Creative Project Ideas: Re-Purposing Kids’ Art

Art Project Ideas for Kids
Any day now my son is going to come home from school carrying the contents of his locker in his backpack, which will get dumped on our front porch table (or floor), where it shall remain for at least a month. Buried in the pile will be several pieces of artwork created in art class, including a few pieces of broken pottery that weren’t meant to be crammed into a backpack.

Kids Art Re-purposed, Mom Guilt Diminished

kids artworkAll year long my kids create art masterpieces of all shapes and sizes, in every medium from crayon to clay. Most of it gets put on display, albeit briefly, to be replaced by the next masterpiece a few days later. And when it comes off the fridge where does it go? In the pile. Actually, one of many piles stacked in various locations in our house. There is a pile in my closet, under each kid’s bed, on top of the fridge and on the top shelf in our family room. My brain knows that I cannot continue to hoard my children’s artwork, but my heart won’t let me throw it out. At least not right away. I have a few ideas for kids school projects to share.

Goodbye and thank you

The goodbye thank you noteRecently a staff member told us about a unique take on traditional thank you cards that we wanted to share with you. Every time she left a job, whether it was on her own accord or not, she made a point to hand-write a personal note (on her personalized stationery, of course!) to each of the people who had helped her along the way. This thank you card idea has enabled her to build and maintain a network of mentors, supporters, colleagues and friends, which she continues to treasure.
