Love is always in the air at Pear Tree. We can’t help it. Seeing so many save the dates and wedding invitations come through our office every day makes us want to hear their engagement stories. Kimberly and Seth did not disappoint us. They were happy to share their story.
When we saw these wedding invitations being printed, we just had to find out this couple’s story. The colors and photos were so beautiful! The bride-to-be, Jessica, was happy to tell us how they met.
Pretty quickly after we got engaged I started thinking about engagement photo ideas for two reasons: first because I wanted to take advantage of how beautiful fall is in Minnesota and secondly because I wanted to be able to include them in our save the date cards and get them out early. A lot of our guests will be coming from out of state and it will give them more time to make travel arrangements.
A few weeks before the session I brainstormed potential shoot locations with both my fiancé and photographer Hollywould Designs. We settled on three separate places: a very lovely local park that sits on the banks of the Minnesota River, a large wooden bridge on one of our favorite bike trails, and a very cool-looking, worn-down industrial warehouse that’s right down the street from our home. Each of these spots shows off the natural beauty of the area and was special to us as a couple.
We hear this question a lot, along with “Does everybody send them?” and “Who do I send them to?” Save the date cards are certainly not required, but they have become very popular in recent years. They are especially helpful if you’re inviting a lot of out-of-town guests or planning a destination wedding, and they are sent to everyone on your guest list about six months in advance of the wedding. Even if you’re not getting married in Bora Bora, save the dates can be used to accomplish several things:
Matt surprised Amanda with a marriage proposal while they were on vacation, visiting her family in Brazil. “It was an amazing surprise, and he did it just right!” says Amanda. When they got back home and began looking at venues, they knew right away that a traditional wedding wasn’t for them. “We always had a laid back and intimate wedding in mind. Matt heard from a friend who had been to a destination wedding and was raving about all the fun they had, so we decided to give that some serious consideration. We visited Mexico in October 2012 and fell in love with the vibe, weather and people.”
