Why is my preview showing white space around my logo or image? Can this be removed before printing?

Seeing white space around an uploaded image in the preview is normal and usually not a problem.

This happens because your image has white space around it and is placed on top of a background that may have subtle shading or color. In the preview, the white areas of your image are visible, but they typically will not print on the final product — especially when printing on white paper or white envelopes. The white parts of your image effectively become transparent during printing, so only the colored or darker parts of your photo or graphic will actually print.

Important exception: If you place an image with a white background over a colored or dark area of your design, the white may print and show up on the final product.

How to remove the white space (optional):

You can easily remove the white background yourself using our built-in “Remove White” tool:

  1. Click on the image or logo you want to edit.
  2. In the left toolbar, locate the “Remove White” slider.
  3. Drag the slider to the right until the white space disappears.
  4. Best practice: Use the lowest percentage possible that fully removes the white. This helps preserve the quality and edges of your image or logo.
